Instructions for Submitting Your Papers Electronically

Since are required to submit your paper electronically for use in the SESUG Proceedings CD-ROM, we have some additional information on doing this through our FTP site.

Your Paper Number

The following instructions will ask you to specify your paper number.  Check with your Section Chair to find out what your paper number is.  If you have multiple papers, please make sure that you specify the correct paper title.

PostScript File Preparation

You are required to provide both the application file (Word or WordPerfect document) and a PostScript (level 1) file of your paper on a 3½" diskette or via Anonymous FTP. You may create the PostScript file using the software of your choice. Directions for creating a PostScript version of your paper on a PC from Microsoft Word or WordPerfect follow. Before you can create a PostScript version of your paper, you must have a PostScript driver loaded on your PC. The following PostScript drivers are provided with the Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT operating systems:

You may need to install one of these LaserWriter print drivers on your PC before you can create the postscript version of your paper.

Note: We strongly recommend that you use the suggested font (Helvetica or Arial) for best results when creating your PostScript file. Other fonts sometimes become illegible for viewing online after creating the PostScript file. If you do include other fonts, be sure to embed any fonts that you use in the postscript preparation (see below). Please DO NOT use page numbers on your paper.

Providing PostScript Files on a 3½" Diskette

To copy your PostScript file onto a 3½" diskette:

  1. Insert a 3½" diskette into the A: Drive of your PC.
  2. Using your right mouse button, click on your file name and ‘Send to 3½" floppy’. Your PC will then copy the postscript file of your paper to the diskette. Label the diskette with your name and the file name (for example, John Jones, p201.ps).

Remember to copy your application file (Word or WordPerfect document) to the diskette as well.

Providing Files with Anonymous Upload

You can provide the PostScript and application files of your paper through the iDrive Facility which is accessible through the World Wide web if you prefer not to send a diskette. To log on to the iDrive web site you need to have an Internet connection. You may connect without prior registration. Just follow these steps:

  1. Enter this statement in your web browser:

    http://www.idrive.com/sesug2k

  2. At the SESUG2K Home area, select add to dropbox under the Dropbox area.
  3. Once you have selected add to dropbox, on the right hand side of the screen you will see an area to upload your document. Select the browse button next to the first text field. Click the browse button. Then, using your local file system, locate the file you would like to upload. If you have authored multiple papers, you can select additional files to be uploaded by using the subsequent browse buttons.
  4. Once you are ready to process the upload request, select the Upload button at the bottom of the list of files. The iDrive site will upload the file(s) to the SESUG site. If you are connected over a dial-up connection, this may take some time. Please be patient. Once the files have been uploaded to the SESUG2k area, the publications coordinator will be notified when the document has been uploaded.
  5. Once the file is uploaded, you will be able to see the name of your document under the dropbox area. If you should leave this site and return (close your browser window), you will not be able to display a listing of the files - including the one you just uploaded.
  6. It is very important that you name your file using your paper number. For example, if your paper number is 201, please use the FTP filename "p201."
  7. The system will automatically notify the publishing coordinator (papers@uga.edu) that you have uploaded your file.
