ols for developing SAS-based or integrated applications. As an application architect, one of your biggest challenges can be determining which Web architecture and Web tools to use for your particular project.

ctural options and many of the common Web tools that are currently available. In addition, I will cover several specific application designs, discussing the pros and cons of each. I will focus on application performance, portability, maintenance, integrati
on, scalability, and longevity as well as overall system compatibility and required development skills.

Eric Brinsfield is President of Meridian Software, Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in software application design and development. Eric started using SAS for statistical analysis in 1977 while in graduate school. He worked for the NCSU computing c
enter from 1980 to 1984, for SAS Institute from 1984 to 1990, and started Meridian Software in 1990. Along with extensive SAS expertise, Eric specializes in system design, user interface design, project estimation, and project management.
