Abstract: It may be the case that you will have a large number of files to read, all of which have the same structure. When these are raw data files, it is possible to use the (very handy) FILEVAR= option on the INFILE statement. When the files are not raw data, oth er methods must be devised. For new (and sometimes not-so-new) SAS programmers, this can be a daunting, tedious prospect. Yet the methods are reasonably simple and may be applied in many cases. This paper will present a SAS Macro that will read and process a number of files. For simplicity's sake, it will not be over-elaborate, but will concentrate on the basics of reading multiple files and suggest some additional enhancements. Francis J.
