Abstract: Business needs come in all shapes and sizes and computer technology continues to improve in leaps and bounds. Combine these conditions with savvy business users and the result is new demand for on-line Internet based information systems solutions. And quic k! Following is an account of one such application development solution. Using SAS/Access to PC files, SAS/Intrnet and other SAS tools, the authors combined efforts to provide an intranet based on-line query system, web enabling data from 56 sources and gi ving the business user a head start on the future. We will provide a step-by-step look at the initial conditions, the development process and the resulting application.

Biography:
Mary Tucker graduated from Winthrop University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and minors in Business and Computer Science. She began her professional career at Kanawha Life Insurance Company in Lancaster, S.C. as an actuarial candidate. She joined Royal & SunAlliance, Charlotte, NC, in 1989 as an actuarial programmer and has held various MIS and IT positions at Royal over the past 13 years. Her current responsibilities include providing web-enabled solutions for the management of property an d other lines of business with regard to catastrophes and natural disasters.

Mary Anne Hope is a Project Manager and SAS Developer for Destiny Corporation and has been using SAS over 20 years. She has her Master of Science degree in Research, Statistical Measurement and Evaluation in the Behavioral Sciences. MaryAnne’s prior experi ence has been concentrated in pharmaceutical programming and management positions including Clinical Research Organizations and a worldwide Pharmaceutical Company.
